Behind the December 2024 Glam Bag Design

“This year, I was inspired by holiday gift wrapping and decor,” says resident Glam Bag designer, Joanne Wong. Like a beautifully wrapped present tied with a bow, this year’s Glam Bag is designed to capture the feeling of excitement and joy of receiving something special. “Think metallic finishes and sparkling ornaments—the details that draw our eyes towards a lit-up tree with a heap of presents underneath it.”

Rather than using an intricate pattern to mimic gift wrapping, Wong chose a bubblegum-pink, satin-like material that feels smooth to the touch and adds a subtle sheen. “I wanted the texture of the bag to feel soft yet luxurious, like silk,” said Wong. “The use of fabric and the colors of the bag are very different from last year’s bag, which was made with a velvety material.”

The bag’s interior fabric features the same satin material, but with a festive twist. Inspired by classic Christmas candy, Wong incorporated a red-and-white striped liner. “I hope it brings a little surprise and a smile when our members unzip their bags.”

Finally, the focal point of the bag’s festive design is a big red satin bow, each carefully sewn by hand to give your Glam Bag a special touch.

“This pink bag with its bold red bow would pair well with so many different looks,” says Wong. “For a fun party look, I’d go with a light pink dress with ruffle sleeves and metallic silver heels. For a cozier feel, I’d style it with a camel teddy coat and black leggings. And, of course, a swipe of your favorite red lipstick to finish off any outfit!”
