Clean skincare is quite the hot topic these days. Should you switch? Does it still work? The answers are yes and yes. Choosing products that are filled with safe, trustworthy, good-for-you skincare ingredients is never a bad idea. And if you choose the right ones, they’ll still work just as well as traditional formulas. Added bonus, clean brands often offer the added bonus of increased sustainability (like us!). So, what clean skincare ingredients should you look for to ensure your products will actually work? We made a little cheat sheet for you.

Clean Skincare Ingredients To Look For

1. Vitamin C

If you can eat it, you know it’s clean! You’ve likely reached for this immunity-boosting vitamin when fighting off a cold. When applied topically to your skin, it helps to retexturize, restore radiance, and even skin tone. It’s also an anti-aging ingredient and one of the most effective antioxidants out there. By now you’re probably thinking you’d like to slather this ingredient all over your body—and we’re right there with you. Vitamin C is one of Pearly Body Wash’s star ingredients, so all skin types can get that full-body glow!

2. Glycerin

Similar to another moisturizing favorite, hyaluronic acid, glycerin is a humectant. Meaning, it can attract water to itself, whether from within skin’s layers or even from the air in humid environments. Plus, it has smoothing and softening properties, making it an all-around powerhouse skincare ingredient. Find it working its magic in Breezy Deodorant!

3. Shea Butter

Ahhh, nature’s original moisturizer. There’s a reason this is one of the most popular skincare ingredients out there. In its natural and pure form, it has multiple benefits beyond just moisturizing, like reducing premature facial lines and wrinkles and soothing skin conditions like eczema. Shea butter’s fatty acids and vitamins help support soft, healthy skin. We’re a tad obsessed, so we’ve added it to lots of our products (try it in Pillowy Shave Cream, Velvety Body Cream, and Luscious Hand Cream).

4. Grapeseed Oil

You probably know wine is chock full of antioxidants (that’s why we can get away with drinking it most nights, right??) so it’s not hard to believe grapeseed oil is, too. It’s non comedogenic too, which means it’s a great ingredient for all skin types and can help improve skin tone, texture, and scarring without clogging pores. Reap the benefits with Luscious Hand Cream and Velvety Body Cream!

5. Olive Oil

Olive oil is packed with fatty acids, antioxidants, vitamins like A, D, E, and K, and an anti-inflammatory called oleocanthal. These nutrients give it powerful anti-aging and moisturizing properties. Just another secret clean weapon that makes Pearly Body Wash, Velvety Body Cream, and Luscious Hand Cream such superstars.

6. Aloe Vera

It’s not just for sunburns. This plant is rich in vitamins, amino acids, and minerals, its fast-absorbing moisture helps to soothe and moisturize skin. Exfoliating enzymes and antibacterial properties are an added bonus for overall skin health. This makes it perfect for our Breezy Deodorant and Cleansing Face Wipes.
