Whether you’re a makeup lover, a novice, or you’re out of practice (hey, a year of only seeing your postal worker will do that to you), it’s never a bad idea to have a few new makeup ideas on hand. From chic and sophisticated evening looks to the up-and-coming makeup trends you’ve been meaning to try but didn’t know where to begin, we’ve curated some of the prettiest celeb-inspired essential makeup looks to add to your inspiration board. Plus, makeup artist AJ Crimson is sharing expert advice along the way—read on for your new favorite looks.
The rosy blush tones on Bridgerton star Phoebe Dynevor’s eyes, cheeks, and lips are just enough pop to help highlight her natural features, says makeup artist AJ Crimson. Once you’ve added a rosy wash to all your features, “accentuate the eyes with eyeliner, add a touch of mascara, groom the brows with a gel, and top off with a matte liquid lip,” he adds.
“You can never go wrong with the classic red lip,” says Crimson of Priyanka Chopra Jonas’s glam. “One of the best ways to achieve this look is by using a lip liner to fill the entire lip then apply matte lipstick over the top for long wear.” This will ensure your bold color stays in place and helps minimize mirror checks.
“A monochromatic look is really easy to achieve,” says Crimson. For a neutral vibe like Jamie Chung, you can even use the same products for the entire face. “I love to take lipstick in a warm peach tone to use on the cheeks lips and eye,” he adds. We love BEAUTANIQ BEAUTY Butter Lip & Cheek Balm in Mauve Lychee for all over use.

For a vibrant take on the monochrome trend, take a cue from Scarlett Johansson, who coordinated her shimmery pink makeup to her ballerina pink gown.
A classic winged eyeliner truly never fails—just ask Lily-Rose Depp. You can use an eyeliner hack, such as tape or a stencil, but all you really need is a steady hand and a trusty liquid eyeliner (we like ESTATE COSMETICS Precision Liquid Liner). Team with a subtle pink lip like Lily, or go all out with red lipstick.
Who can resist a flash of bright, bold neon hues? Try swiping on any of the fun shades from the HUDA BEAUTY Obsessions Palette in Ruby—and don’t shy away from pairing with an equally bold lip à la Tracee Ellis Ross.
The key to Hailey Bieber’s glow? Bronzer, bronzer, and bronzer. A dusting of the summer makeup staple where the sun naturally hits is the ultimate makeup pick-me-up. Try dusting on a few shades from the LOVE+CRAFT+BEAUTY Bronzer Palette, which imparts the perfect I-just-got-back-from-Miami-level glow.
Spoiler: You can get a dimensional look like Keke Palmer’s with just a couple eyeshadows. “Use a metallic eyeshadow on top of a matte shadow to create a halo effect,” says Crimson. “My favorite trick is to use my finger to apply a dab of metallic eyeshadow at the ball of the lid. It’s a really great effect when you blink, it catches the light beautifully,” adds the makeup pro. You can also try a molten-like liquid eyeshadow for a similar effect.
“Dewy skin makes the skin feel vibrant and is beautiful for spring, summer, fall—all year round really,” says Crimson. To emulate Lana Condor’s glowy complexion, “Take a dab of clear pink or peach lipgloss and dab it at the top of the cheekbones down the center of the nose and on the lid,” adds the pro.
A black eyeliner pencil is your best friend for this sultry look seen here on Madison Beer. Draw the pencil as close to the lash line as possible on the top lid, and on the waterline of the bottom lid, then finish the look with loads of lengthening black mascara.
A glossy pout is officially back, and Madelaine Petsch proves it with this fresh, young, and fun look. “Not only is gloss great on the lip, it is great on the cheek as a highlighter and on the eyes for a really eye-popping effect,” says Crimson.
Early-oughts beauty trends continue to thrive, and Laura Harreir’s eye makeup look is exhibit A. Using your finger, pat a shimmer shade from the IBY BEAUTY Enlighten Eyeshadow Palette over a matte version of the same hue to get that dimensional sheen with full-on color. Pair with a pinky-nude lip to keep the focus on the eyes.
Another throwback ‘90s trend making a comeback: visible lip liner, as seen here on Megan Thee Stallion. Start with a deep-toned lip liner for your skin tone, then layer on a nude lipstick a few shades lighter, and top with clear gloss.
No-makeup makeup is often easier said than done, but leave it to Zendaya to demonstrate the perfect natural beauty look. To DIY, start with a touch of concealer and tinted moisturizer (the key to a no-makeup makeup look is a really natural base), groom brows with a gel, and top off with a tinted lip balm.
Whether it’s a date night, a bridesmaid look, or just a dressy day out, take a cue from Taylor Swift’s soft pink lip, blush, and eyes. Barely there winged eyeliner keeps the look from being overly saccharine.
“This look is all about a statement lip,” says Crimson of Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s ‘20s-inspired makeup. For a similar deep lip color, the makeup artist recommends starting with deep lip pencil and topping it off with a matching matte lipstick.
Sofia Carson proves that nothing rivals a bold, matte red lip and extra-long lashes, especially for a big night out. If you’re new to falsies, don’t be scared—and definitely don’t miss our step-by-step tutorial.
