First, let us wish you a very happy National Lipstick Day. Whether you’re known to rock a bold lip on the reg, or you’re looking for an excuse to step out of your clear-lip-balm comfort zone, this is the holiday for you. To help you celebrate National Lipstick Day in style, we tapped model/influencer/ultimate makeup inspo Bianca Alexa (@simplybiancaalexa on social media) to create five stunning lip looks that will inspire you today and every day to come.

Because the truth is, you don’t need to wait for July 29 to come around each year in order to play with your makeup. In fact, if you’re looking to switch up your makeup look or take a risk, lipstick is one of the most commitment-free ways to do just that (you can even use the lip products you already have). Blend two colors together, sheer a bold bullet out with a lip gloss, create an ombré effect, anything goes.

So keep scrolling to check out Bianca’s beautiful lipstick creations, and make room on your camera roll because you’ll want to screenshot all of these images for later (trust us, they’re so stunning you’ll want to reference them again and again).

1. Peachy Shine

Fact: You can’t go wrong with a pretty glossy lip. But take a note from Bianca and kick it up a notch. Rather than swiping your go-to gloss (Bianca used PIXI BY PETRA LipLift Max in Sheer Rose) over bare lips, start with a neutral lip liner to help create dimension and shape.

Trace a lip liner similar to your natural lip color (Bianca’s wearing THRIVE CAUSEMETICS Lip Filler Long Wearing + Plumping Lip Liner™ in Ghizlan) around the perimeter of your pout. For a fuller look, color slightly above your natural lip line and fill in the corners of your mouth with the liner. This will make the center of your lips appear plumper. Using your ring finger, gently buff out the lines so they’re not so obvious, then top with your GOC (gloss of choice).

2. Full-On Fuchsia

A matte red lip is classic and will never go out of style, but swap that red shade for a poppy fuchsia, and it instantly becomes more youthful and playful. If you have a hard time perfecting the shape of your lips—especially with a matte liquid lipstick, which tends to be less forgiving than a matte lipstick bullet—use just the tip of the doe foot applicator to draw the shape you want before filling in the rest of your lips. And keep a cotton swab and makeup remover close by if you happen to make a mistake. It happens to the best of us, but it’s an easy clean up.

If you want to go the extra mile, wear a matching pink top like Bianca (who’s rocking BEAUTY FOR REAL Lip Cream + Color in Hotter Than Miami). It may seem daring, but the monochromatic vibe will always work.

3. Faux Metallic Glow

Have you ever seen a model in a magazine or on a billboard with shiny metallic lips? The look is really futuristic and cool, but unless you have special foils or lip toppers, it can be hard to recreate IRL. Here’s a hack to make it possible at home:

Swipe on a lip gloss (Bianca is wearing PIXI BY PETRA Liplift Max in Honey Sheen), then using your finger, tap the top of the gloss to tone down shine and transform it from glossy to an almost-metallic effect. Want even more metallic sheen? You can also top the gloss with your favorite metallic eyeshadow. Just dust the shadow over your lips with a small fluffy brush.

4. Glitter Goals

Beauty truth: Glitter is always the answer. Whether it’s on your cheeks as a dewy highlighter, on your lids as a shimmer shadow, or on your lips as a glittery, opalescent lip gloss, like the NATURE’S CARTEL VCR Static Lip Gloss on Bianca. Start with a lip liner, like THRIVE CAUSEMETICS Lip Filler Long Wearing + Plumping Lip Liner™ in Devin, to create more dimension and help keep the shape of your lips from disappearing under the gloss. Then glob on as much glitter gloss as possible. The more, the better.

5. OMG Ombré

Finding the perfect red lipstick shade for your skin tone is one of the ultimate beauty missions. And like discovering your favorite pair of jeans, coffee order, or Spotify playlist, once you find the one, we totally get it if you want to use it all the time. But if you’re looking for ways to get the most out of your favorite red lipstick, an ombré effect is the way to go.

Dab your lippy just in the center of your mouth (try BEAUTY FOR REAL Lip Cream + Color in Really Red, like Bianca), then using your finger or a clean eyeshadow brush, buff out the lip color toward the outside of your lips. If there’s too much lipstick to create a noticeable ombré, blot your lips on a tissue before blending. It should look somewhere between lipstick and lip stain.

We hope these National Lipstick Day lip looks inspired you to step out of your comfort zone. If you try one of them out, share it and tag us. We’d love to see.
